Viticulture

The WEINGUT EUGEN MUELLER has been owned by the same family since 1935. Stephan and Christine Mueller and Stephan's father Kurt are the 3rd generation to run the estate. Stephan joined the family business in 2000 after completing his studies in viticulture at Geisenheim; during his studies he spent several months working in an Australian winery.

The specialities of our estate are the racy aromatic elegant Riesling wines which prosper in the excellent Forster vineyards such as "Kirchenstueck", "Jesuitengarten", "Ungeheuer" and "Pechstein".

Our estate was admitted to the circle of 450 best German estates by the magazine "DER FEINSCHMECKER WEIN GOURMET" back in September 2022. "GAULT MILLAU" has maintained its 3 grapes rating for the estate the for more than 10 years. According to "EICHELMANN - Deutschlands Weine" the Riesling wines from our estate are among the best wines of the year in the Palatinate and in Germany. "A great collection". The recognition of our work mirrored in these ratings encourages us in our striving for high-quality wines.

Philosophy

Every bottle which carries our logo contains a wine in which one you can still truly taste the fruit of the grape.

To achieve this we follow the guidelines of certified environmentally-friendly wine-growing. Mechanical soil tillage, environmentally friendly plant protection and selection of the grapes for harvesting during vintage are as natural for us as a slow, cooled fermentation and maturing in stainless steel tanks and wooden barrels. We also assess each individual load of harvested grapes, subject all wines maturing in the barrels to intensive ongoing tasting and consultation about the further development of the wines; this time-consuming process is the necessary prerequisite for the end-product of elegant lively fresh wines.

Sustainable viticulture

We are happy that we are now part of Fair’n Green and have been certified successfully. For many years, we have been striving to review and further develop all areas of our winery in the spirit of sustainability. This includes besides protecting the environment through biodiversity as well as climate, soil and species protection, the fair handling with people.

Our Team

Together we are strong - thanks to the commitment of our long-standing employees Alexander Rupp, Andreas Hammerstein and Nicklas Joseph. Throughout the wine year there is always something to do, be it in the vineyard, in the cellar, in the wine meeting point and at events and trade fairs and there you are glad to be able to rely on such employees.

We are also supported by our two trainees and our temporary staff, who have been with us for many years.
